About GlobalChristian and the Global Engagement Network

The Global Engagement Network (GEN) develops culturally engaged Christian leaders worldwide through fellowship, discipleship, education, and training. The GlobalChristian.org website educates and challenges its members through daily updated international news and weekly editorial commentary on key issues. The site features blogging (an internet open discussion forum), podcasts (downloadable audio clips), event listings in your community on global affairs, job listings for Christians interested in international careers, and small group leadership resources. While GEN varies according to the local context, it seeks practical and responsible strategies that faithfully and thoughtfully engage our world's most pressing issues. GEN is a leadership development initiative of the Institute for Global Engagement (IGE).

More About the People at GlobalChristian

globalChristian staff, bloggers and contributors are all Christians dedicated to better understanding God's world in all its complexity. These people created the Global Engagement Network (gen) as a home for a growing group of Christians who do not accept simplistic answers to global issues. Tired of the leftover left and the righteous right, these Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant followers of Jesus:

  • seek to renew their minds (Romans 12:2), transforming themselves, their cultures, and the world around them as a result;
  • demonstrate the love and mercy of Christ through tangible acts of worship and service;
  • remember that Christ calls them only to obedience, not necessarily success.
The common conviction of this group of GlobalChristians is God's sovereignty. GlobalChristians are disciples who believe that "the earth is the Lord's and all that is in it" (Psalms 24:1). This term embodies the holistic, global perspective found in Genesis 1 & 2, as well as in the declaration of Christ before issuing the Great Commission: "All things in heaven and earth are under my authority" (Matthew 28:18). GlobalChristians want to make their faith relevant to the most difficult places and issues in the world.
