Fall 2010 Research Associate Intern Program

Institute for Global Engagement (IGE) promotes sustainable environments for religious freedom worldwide. As a faith-based organization, IGE believes firmly in universal human dignity and is committed to the protection of all faiths through the rule of law. The mission of IGE is to inspire and equip global leaders and grassroots faith communities through holistic analysis, relational diplomacy and leadership development.


The Institute is currently accepting applications for the fall 2010 term of its internship program. It seeks self-motivated individuals with good research, critical analysis, interpersonal, and administrative skills to intern at the Institute's office in the Rosslyn neighborhood of Arlington, VA. The fall term runs for 14 weeks, from 6 September through 17 December 2010.

An IGE Intern seeks to be challenged toward greater effectiveness and sophistication in an increasingly complex world.
 Required skills include:
· A strong interest in international affairs
· Excellent writing skills
· Capable of working independently
· An understanding of deadlines and professional standards of excellence
· Respect for all faith traditions and the right to practice religious convictions freely
· Initiative
· Attention to detail

Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
· Preparing research papers, memos, and other analysis for program and senior staff
· Conducting research on a particular IGE focus country
· Providing editorial assistance to The Review of Faith & International Affairs
· Assisting the development team with projects, grant proposals, and events
· Staying informed and writing updates on international religious freedom current events
· Participating in daily devotions
· Conducting original research and writing one article to be published on one of IGE's websites
· Providing general administrative assistance
